Junior and Senior accounting students were able to visit Lycoming College on Friday, Oct. 4.
Accounting teacher, Jennifer Y. Weaver, arranged the field trip for students to learn more about their Accounting major at Lycoming College. A former student of Williamsport Area High School and Lycoming College, Patrick Welteroth, ’12 Alumni, paid a special visit to the college to meet students there. He spoke about how he has benefited from accounting, his college experience, and his current career. At the college, he majored in Accounting and Business Management. He now serves as CFO of Willies Companies.
Students could sit in a classroom and experience how Professor Andrew Paulhamus would teach a typical accounting class. Professor Paulhamus gave a brief PowerPoint on the major and the hundreds of careers that align with it. He advised that the responsibility of managing a college workload is important.
Lycoming College students Mike Sipps ’26 and Bailee Dincher ’27 took the students on a tour around the college. Students could have an inside look at the different departments and students’ everyday lives. After the tour, students were able to eat lunch in their main cafeteria with current Lycoming students and talk about their college experience.
Ending the day off, the alumni board panel sat in front of the students. They were able to explain their career journey after high school and answer any of the students’ questions. “The students and faculty were very nice and welcoming. The cafeteria was my favorite part of the day because we were able to talk to the current students there and get the full experience and outlook of college,” said senior Kahyear Whaley.
