On April 29, 2025, the Williamsport Area High School band played a concert for the community. This was the last formal concert of the 2024-2025 school year.
First, the symphonic band played a few of their songs to kick off the concert. Next, the jazz band performed “Ain’t No Mountain High” by Marvin Gaye and “Treasure” by Bruno Mars. Afterwards, the wind ensemble, played the songs “Olympiada,” “The Light Eternal,” and “American Elegy” which was a memorial to the survivors and those who lost their lives in the Columbine shooting. It featured a moving trumpet solo from senior Robert Leiter. They also debuted a song, “Sawdust Coppice,” written by a local composer, Gabriel Newvine, that was commissioned specifically for the school band.
The director, Mr. Bulgarelli, named all the seniors, had them stand and be applauded, that were playing in the concert and acknowledged their playing. He said in relation to his students who performed, “It was such a joy to see our students bring so much energy and heart to the stage. The concert showcased not only their musical growth, but also their dedication, teamwork, and love for performing. I’m incredibly proud of all of them for their music making and growth as people.” A student, Maddy Fausnaught, who performed in the concert said, “I really enjoyed getting to do this concert with the school. It’s always so much fun getting to the concert and showing everyone what we’ve been working on.”
