On Saturday, Sept. 13, the Marching Millionaires marched down to Shamokin to compete in the Cavalcade of Bands to defend their first place championship.
Their show was titled “1985” and featured many popular tunes from that era, such as songs from Back to the Future, Stranger Things, and the hit song “Open Arms” by Journey from 1982. “Open Arms” features soloist Kirby Yeager on trombone, a woodwind quartet featuring Destiny Fink on alto sax, Brennlyne Rogers on tenor sax, and Ava Girton and Charles Leiter on clarinet. With these songs, the Marching Millionaires blew the competition out of the water as they brought home a first-place title once again with a whopping score of 78.300.
When asked to comment on what he thought about the group’s win, adviser Mr. Bulgarelli, or more commonly known as Mr. B, commented: “I’m proud of our students for the effort they’ve put in this year. I think performing at a band competition is a really great opportunity for them to perform for an audience that is very fired up about band and excited to see them play. They represented themselves well and performed well.”
