On Friday, Oct. 3, the 2026 Homecoming Court gathered at the varsity football game against Shamokin for one lucky boy and girl to be crowned this year’s Homecoming King and Queen. To be crowned Homecoming King and Queen, and to even be nominated to the court in the first place, is a great honor for seniors and a highlight for many people’s year. It is an amazing tradition for high schoolers that has been around for decades, dating all the way back to the 1920s and 30s when it was adopted by high schools across the country from college traditions. Every school year, six boys and six girls are selected from the senior student body to be on the year’s homecoming court, where one boy and one girl are selected to be the king and queen.
This year’s court consisted of Taali Buie and Dayianna Baines, Kye Diakite and Emma Vollman, Cooper Allmaras and Jada Brown, Xavier Johnston Myrick and Sophia Lepley, Collin Nasdeo and Kyna Varner, and last but certainly not least, Giovanni White and Avani Rainer. Out of the members, the student body selected Taalie Buie and Jada Brown to be this year’s Homecoming King and Queen. Congratulations to the lucky seniors!
When the former Winter Prince was asked how he feels about having two high school royalties under his belt, Taali Buie had this to say: “I think it feels amazing to have high school royalties under my belt, especially two. I think it just shows my impact on the students, that they see me as someone who is worth voting for and winning such special events like homecoming and formal.”
When asked what it felt like to be nominated to court and win the Homecoming Queen title, Jada Brown had this to say: “When I found out I was nominated for court, I couldn’t believe it. Then once I won, I felt so excited and thankful. This is a great way to start my senior year.”
