On Wednesday, June 22, the Williamsport girls’ softball team faced their first opponent in their district run. Approaching districts, Williamsport seeded #3 and was to face the #2 seed, Wilkes-Barre on their home turf at 4:30 pm.
It took the girls a little longer than anticipated to come around, but eventually, things started clicking. Hitting became contagious and everyone contributed to the team win.
Sophomores Brenna Beck and Ashlyn Robinson and senior Abby Robertson belted homeruns to improve the Millionaires score. Then not shortly after, junior Bailey Livermore hit a grand slam to clear the bases. The Williamsport Millionaires beat the Wilkes-Barre Wolfpack by an outstanding score of 21-3.
“I was confident that our team would pull through and win even though we were the 3rd seed. It felt awesome being able to win with such a bonded team and being able to go to the district final twice now as a sophomore!” said sophomore Brenna Beck.
