During December, Level-One Culinary students celebrated the holiday season by making gingerbread houses for a competition. They spent two weeks creating them. They started by making the gingerbread dough, then cut out the pieces using a house template and assembled the houses with royal icing. After, each student decorated their own house in any theme they chose. For voting, teachers brought or sent their students down to view the gingerbread houses and vote for their favorite. This year’s winners were:
1st Place- Jewelana Jasper (Surfing House)
2nd Place- Antonella Erby (Batman House)
3rd Place Tied- Riley Parsons (Cindy Lou Who House & Maleah Baugh (Santa on Brick House)
Culinary teacher Chef Renk commented: “It is a great learning experience for my culinary students because they learn a lot of new pastry arts techniques. And it is so nice to have WAHS students and teachers come to see our beautiful display and place their votes. It is truly part of our school’s holiday celebrations!”
