The Williamsport Millionaires hosted their home opener against the Shamokin Indians on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7:00pm. The Millionaires didn’t start off hot, with the Indians scoring a few times with no response. However, the Millionaires stayed confident through the game and it showed. After the first minute they were down, then they came back to end the first quarter only 18-17 to the Indians.
The quick, shifty, creative starter Jasir Cobb was taken out of the game very early for a long period of time, which made the crowd and even some of the players question Coach Taylor’s reasoning. The Millionaires and Indians both had great lockdown defense and it showed through the second quarter because neither team can score points.
The Millionaires’ stand out players seem to be mostly young and upcoming stars, including Zion Hughes, Quincy Williams, and Tevin Williams. They are led by older captain who also stood out, Kyreek Bradshaw. The Millionaires entered half time 33-28, Indians due to little mistakes and an inability to finish at the basket. The Millionaires couldn’t seem to clench the lead at any point in the second half, which resulted in the final score of 71-57, Indians.
