The Millionaire Café is open Tuesdays and Thursdays. On these days, Culinary students work hard to make lunch for teachers. The Millionaire Café also serves breakfast every morning, through the Cup and Cane menu, to teachers who order online, and then the students deliver breakfast to the teachers. The Culinary students are responsible for this under Mr. Brian Nasdeo.
For breakfast, the students sell food and drinks including crepes, breakfast sandwiches, breakfast burritos, parfaits, coffee, tea, and smoothies. For lunch they serve sandwiches, mac and cheese, soup, salads, fries, desserts, and drinks. Menu items change as the Culinary students try out new recipes.
Senior Culinary student Jalaya Drummond said, “I love to make food for the Millionaire Café with the other students. It feels good to help teachers out.”
The students faced challenges when they considered having a spot for other students to buy food. At first the spot was going to be in the library. However, it was difficult to determine a class period or passing period that the Culinary students would be able to attend their classes and students would be able to go to get food. But the students’ hard work paid off and they now they get to make food for the staff of the building through the Café.
Despite the timing issue, the culinary students still get to practice and create something nice for the teachers. They work hard to provide, and the teachers are grateful for the students and their efforts.
