On March 3, 2025, the school’s e-gaming club moved into room E207, the old drop-in center, for their brand new gaming lab. Originally the club was held in the club advisor, Mr. Lingle’s room, where he teaches computer information technology from intro to level 3. Unfortunately, he wasn’t able to download games in his classroom, so the e-gaming club was left unable to play or enjoy their games during school. To fix this, the drop-in center, which was used for online students, was turned into a gaming lab with computers that were able to download games such as Valorant or Fortnite onto them.
The e-gaming club is one of many clubs offered to Williamsport Area High School students, and it has a unique premise. In this club, students can take a break from the stress of school and instead relax with other students while playing video games. The club takes place in both Bank A and Bank B so it’s easy to accommodate it to students schedules. Now that they have this new lab they hope they can begin practicing to compete in e-gaming tournaments.
When asked how this new e-gaming lab will impact his club, club advisor Mr. Lingle commented: “This lab allows us to actually be able to play games because it’s the only room in the entire school where we’re able to play actual games.”
