On Feb. 24, 2025, the Williamsport Area High School hosted an All-District Band Concert. The students worked hard to practice their music and performed it in a full auditorium. The younger students got to perform with the older students and were positioned on the stairs and high-rise area above the stage. The older students were spread out along the stage. Their hard work and devotion were shown through the concert.
Performances included the high school’s Millionaire Big Band playing “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy,” by composer Hughie Prince. The middle school jazz band had their own performance of “Jammin’ with Charlie” by Dean Sorenson. Then both Curtin and Lycoming Valley Intermediate Schools combined 5th grade groups played and then their respective jazz bands played as well. The middle school band played two songs. Then the combined high school band played “Terracotta Warriors” and excerpts from the movie “How to Train Your Dragon.” As a finale, over 500 students from grades 5-12 crowded the stage and played “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi.
Junior student, Maddy Fausnaught, said about the performance, “It was really rewarding to play the songs we’ve been practicing so long. I like the all-district concert because I remember being the kids’ age and getting to come up to the high school and play with the big kids and being really excited.”
The respective directors of each band put a lot of effort into organizing their students and rehearsing their music. The students’ performance was evident of their time and the amount of work they put into their instruments. The performances were enjoyed by the audience and every student got to hear the cheers from such a large crowd that night.
