On Thursday, Sep 11, the Williamsport Millionaires Boys Varsity Soccer team hosted the Central Mountain Wildcats at the Ball Mills Soccer Complex for Teacher Appreciation Night. The seniors that honored their favorite teachers are as follows: Dumfer Adjei-Frimpong – Mrs. Gilson, Parker Fox – Mrs. Watkins (Curtin), Brayden Jarrett – Mrs. JY Weaver, and Wyatt Judge – Mr. Heller. After the recognition took place, a thrilling, 2OT showdown took place with an extremely spirited student section, only for no winner to be decided due to a draw.
The Millionaires started the scoring in the first half, with a goal from junior Levi Gair to put Williamsport on top of the Wildcats 1-0. Unfortunately, that was all she wrote for the boys in red offensively. The Wildcats clawed their way back into the thick of things, with a goal in the second half. Max Fink was phenomenal in leading a fantastic defensive game for Williamsport. He saved plenty of shots, and with some stellar defense supporting him, the game stayed tied 1-1 heading into OT.
Neither team managed to push out in front and take the win, but the Millionaires played an exceptional match against a solid squad from Central Mountain. There’s no doubt the student section led by Mr. Millionaire didn’t play a role in Williamsport’s performance on Thursday. We hope to continue to see lots of students cheering loud for all of our fall sports and the season rolls on!
