On Dec. 19, a group of Williamsport Area High School students performed a Make-A- Wish benefit show in order to raise money to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses, specifically in Lycoming County. The show consisted of dancing, singing, and even a strings quartet.
The show and practices were completely done by students, and run by Normandy Broaddus, Emily Kime, and Eleanor Macdonald, all WAHS senior students. Students from the school volunteered time to practice for the show and learn all of the choreographed dances and songs. Peyton Kelley, one of the dancers in the show noted that, “I had so much fun being able to perform and make a difference for so many alongside of my friends!”
This particular benefit show surrounds the theme of “commUNITY” emphasizing coming together to make a difference, as seen by the event raising over $8,000 for Make-A-Wish. The funds will go directly toward granting wishes for children in Lycoming County, bringing hope and joy to children facing difficult times.
The concert wasn’t just about fundraising; it was a celebration of talent, teamwork, and compassion. Audience members were treated to an unforgettable night filled with lighthearted performances, heartfelt singing, and beautiful music from the strings quartet. Irina Savage, a student and audience member stated, “The concert was so exciting to watch.” She added, “They really did do an amazing job up there.”
