Several members of SGA participated in Lycoming College’s Relay for Life events on Saturday, April 22. This was Lycoming College’s first Relay event, and the first time since 2019 that SGA was able to participate in the event.

The students donated a self-care basket for the basket raffle.  They also set up a booth in the gym where they sold snow cones. While Eva, Natani, and Mia set up the snow cone machine, Nina and Semaj Hale finished decorating their table.

“Relay for Life is an amazing opportunity to help support people battling cancer and to increase awareness about cancer,” SGA president Mia Birch explained.

“I’m proud of my SGA students’ support and participation in Relay for Life, “advisor Amber Heggenstaller said. “We were able to donate $1,000 to the American Cancer Society through our “14 Days of Love” raffle we did in February, “she added. “It’s most rewarding when our students take the initiative to come together and make a difference in our community, “Heggenstaller reflected.

“Being able to support survivors and the families of cancer patients who have passed away was an experience unlike any other,” Birch added.
